Refreshed with Green

Over the past week I have started drinking the infamous Green Monsters!  After my previous INTERESTING EXPERIENCE with green drinks, I was pretty hesitant about this.  The first sip was ‘meh’, the second sip was ‘not so bad’, the third sip was ‘whoa this is refreshing!!!’.  Everyday since I have been craving this drink like crazy!!  J

1.5 Cups organic baby spinach (when eating spinach I ALWAYS eat Baby, the taste is much milder)

¾ Cup hemp milk (or Almond milk)

1 T natural PB

1 frozen ripe banana (you can use fresh as well but I like the consistency a frozen banana adds)

Splash of OJ.

Water if needed.

Blend in a blender well.  I usually have to blend for 1.5 min to make sure all the bits of spinach are not floating around! J I would love to start adding a vegan protein powder to this but have not been able to find any in the beautiful small town I reside in.  I also have a bag of Kale that I’m contemplating adding……

This smoothie has seriously got me hooked. Now I’m just dying to get a juicer!!!  You better believe I’m currently dropping hints that I NEED one for my birthday to my extra sexy, incredibly smart, dreamiest, manliest, coolest boyfriend ever!! ;)

  1. Yes you totally need a juicer! I make Plant Blood all the time, especially this time of year when my fridge is overflowing with kale and collards and chard. Mmmm with a cucumber and lemon it’s just awesome :-) Thanks for your email, btw!

Great recipe! I tried a green monster this week and enjoyed it. I usually just buy regular spinach b/c it’s cheaper. The taste doesn’t bother me that much – or at least not as much as the price differential :-)

I tried to make a smoothie with frozen spinach, but the flavor is too strong. I’ll try fresh baby spinach next time!

  5. I loooooooooooove green smoothies! Yum-O! ;-) And spinach is my all-time favorite veggie. I love kale too, though.

So glad to have found your blog!

And, yes, you totally need a juicer! :-)
