Orange Cranberry Waffles

It’s the beginning of the new year.  We should all be indulging in salads and smoothies, I know! But after the first week back to work I can’t imagine anything better than waking up Saturday morning to a warm plate of the gluten free orange cranberry waffles.

Fluffy and sweet with a bit of tartness.  These waffles are my new go to weekend breakfast.  The cranberries and maple syrup go together so well.  It’s the perfect winter breakfast idea.

I’m not one for small kitchen appliances.  I just don’t have the storage space.  So for years I put off getting a waffle iron.  Honestly, it’s been one of the most used tools in my kitchen.  I guess I never fully understood how much my family loves waffles.  Seriously, the best $15 spent.

Orange Cranberry Waffles

  • Cook Time: 15m
  • Total Time: 30m
  • Yield: 3 waffles


  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose gluten free flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1/2 cranberries
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup canola oil


  1. Preheat waffle iron.
  2. In a large bowl mix flour, salt, baking powder, salt and sugar.
  3. Mix in egg, oil, milk and orange juice. Mix until combine.
  4. Fold in cranberries.
  5. Pour 1/2 Cup of the batter onto the hot waffle iron. Cook for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown. Cooking times will vary depending on iron setting and brand of iron. To be safe check after 3 minutes.
