Kitchen flops

Sometimes things look pretty on the outside but on the inside they are a mess.

That is exactly what happened last night when I attempted to make ‘fried’ green tomatoes.  I’ve always had an obsession with fried green tomatoes since watching the movie when I was 10.  :) call me dorky.  But it was a grown up movie and I felt so mature staying up late to watch it.  Now days, when I order fried green tomatoes off of a menu I feel grown-up.  I might not be mature but grown up I am! boo..

After 20minutes in the oven these beauties came smelling and looking heavenly.  Even, Ava was dying to try one {she hates tomatoes}!  I’m telling you these smelled amazing.

Then came the taste test…….they tasted like garbage…worse than garbage!  I’m not even kidding!  The crust was wonderful.  The actual tomato not so much.  I’m hoping I just go some bad tomatoes.

This makes me nervous because bad luck in the kitchen comes in spurts.  If you have one flop you will have at least 2-3 more.  Hopefully, I’ll return later this week with a yummy recipe for you.  If you don’t hear from me send cookies

They DO look delicious. I made these a month ago or so, and we used a cast iron skillet to cook them, and they turned out alright (although the last ones were a bit dark…). We used green tomatoes from Mom’s tomato plant, so maybe that was the difference. Home grown is always better, right? :)

They look great. You may need to Fry them to breakdown the acids and give you the flavor you are expecting.
