Easy Shishito Peppers

These easy shishto peppers make the perfect appetizer. They come together in just a few minutes and are so fun to eat.  Dressed in lemon juice and Parmesan cheese these easily become addicting.

Shishito peppers have a mild flavor and they are best when quickly cooked.  I broil mine to get nice charred marks on them with out having to add much oil.  Over cooking will cause them to get too soft and mushy.  You wan them to be a bit crisp.

I love adding lemon juice to really bring a bright pop to their flavor.  Then I dust them with  finely grated Parmesan cheese, because you can never go wrong with Parmesan!

If you are looking for a quick and easy appetizer these shishito peppers are just the recipe you need.  These would also be great for game day.  They are easy, delicious, bite-sized and can be served at room temperature.  They literally take less than 10 minutes to put make.

Easy Shishito Peppers

  • Serves: 2


  • 1 package shishito peppers, or about 3 Cups
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons parmesan cheese
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice


  1. Preheat broiler on oven.
  2. On baking sheet toss peppers and olive oil.
  3. Place in oven and broil for 3 minutes. Remove from oven and toss.
  4. Place back in over another 3-4 minutes. Peppers should be charred.
  5. Remove from oven and toss peppers with lemon juice, salt and pepper.
  6. Place on plate and top with parmesan cheese.
  7. **Note: all ovens are different. You want to heat these peppers for as little time as possible so they will have a nice texture. The purpose of broiling is to have them get slightly blackened. If your oven broils at a higher temp then they will need much less time.
