Balsamic Sauteed Mushroom and Onion Crostinis
Over the holidays I recieved a fun package from Foodbuzz contianing a fabulous array of Newman’s Own products. It was fun coming up with new recipes for the Family Bites Contest.
Here is a peak at one of them I sent in.
Balsamic Sauteed Mushroom and Onion Crostinis
These crostinis are a perfect side dish for soup or salad. If you need a fast and delicious appetizer whip up a few batches of these savory delights.
{Ingredients}
½ Cup chopped portabella mushrooms and onions
2 Tbsp Newman’s Own Balsamic Vinaigrette
1 Tbsp EVOO
4 slices crusty dark rye bread
4 Tbsp soft herbed cheese (I used alouette garlic and herb)
{Directions}
- Preheat oven to 375.
- Brush bead slices with one tablespoon EVOO. Place on baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, turning half way through baking.
- Meanwhile, sauté mushrooms and onions in one tablespoon EVOO. Once mushrooms soften add balsamic and cook until liquid is absorbed.
- Once bread is done add one tablespoon cheese to each piece of bread and top with mushroom and onion mixture.
*Ava and I have a seriously expensive addictition to Alouette soft cheese!!! Beyond Yummy…..

We had crostinis last night…only ours had Parmesan cheese and a drizzle of olive oil. They’re great with soup. These look super delicious. Good luck with the contest!
